Reasons for Connector Terminal Withdrawal

by | Apr 10, 2024

How to avoid the pin withdrawal of the connector terminal is a key concern of the wire harness practitioners. Wire harnesses are used as a bridge connecting the various electrical components of the vehicle to realize the normal connection of various electrical circuits, and more and more content needs to be controlled. There is a saying in the industry that electrical appliances are the most problematic in each segment of the car, and the most problematic component in the electrical appliance is the wiring harness. In view of the many failure modes of automotive wiring harness products, the withdrawal of connector terminals is the most unacceptable. As there are many factors affecting needle withdrawal, it covers all aspects of design, parts production, and wiring harness manufacturing.

When analyzing the needle withdrawal problem, the harness withdrawal problem is shown in the figure below. There are two reasons for the needle withdrawal problem found from the user’s perspective: 1. The terminal is not assembled in place during the assembly process, resulting in the withdrawal of the needle. 2. When the terminal is inserted, the pin is ejected or pulled out due to tension. From the perspective of the merchant, it will analyze whether there is a problem with the rubber core itself.

The first question focuses on the product manufacturing process. The second question focuses on the design of the harness connector. The third question focuses on material issues. By clarifying the type of needle withdrawal, the control range of needle withdrawal can be reduced, the influencing factors can be reduced, the problem can be quickly identified, and control measures can be formulated more accurately.
